New project in Nepal 2017:
Jumla District is one of the poorest areas in Nepal. 15 % of the children suffer from malnutrition, the average life expectancy is 47 years. Schools and health posts are old and in bad condition. The local school has 256 pupils from pre-school to class 8. The school does not have room enough for all the pupils and there is only one toilet at the school. No chairs, no desks. There are no proper doors and windows and the children study on the floor also in winter during rain and snow.
Nature Planet will build new big classrooms and supply desks, books and learning material. We will improve the old buildings, the school will be earthquake resistant and get light from a solar system. We will build more toilets and install drinking water. We also plan to improve 2 local health posts with new buildings, toilets, water supply, solar light and various equipment.
Health workers will be trained to upgrade their knowledge and skills. And at the same time, awareness raising activities will help pregnant women, children and families to put focus on childrens rights and equality for girls.
